For a list of Smartboard Quick Reference guides, select from one of the following options:

Using the Smart Board

  • Press firmly when using the markers. The board is pressure sensitive, so it may take more pressure than you're used to using.
  • Write with letters at least two inches high.
  • (TIP: Don't brush your hand across the board, only the pen tip should be in contact with the board)
  • To write "invisibly" lift a marker from a tray, and begin writing on the board with your finger.
  • The local site will not be able to see what was written on the SMARTBoard, but they'll be able to see the text on the monitors.
  • The pen tray detects which tool (marker or eraser) was last removed.
If you remove the blue marker, then remove the red one without replacing the blue one, any new marks will be red. The color on the monitor is dictated by the last tray color that has had it's marker removed.

Erasing / Clearing the Board

  • To erase small areas, use the edge of the eraser rather than the flat surface. Using the flat surface only erases part of the image or text.
  • If all the tools are in the tray, anything that touches the board will act as an eraser (including fingers). Always return the markers to their proper slots.

IMPORTANT:
Only use dry erase markers on the Smartboard.
Using permanent markers can and will damage the Smartboards.
