Distance Learning courses provide greater flexibility than on-campus courses, but they also require good time management skills and self-motivation for successful completion. They may not suit every student's needs, expectations, or learning style.
If you are considering Distance Learning at ACC, review the resources below to see what is expected of students taking DL courses, and what you can expect from Distance Learning. These resources can't guarantee success in any distance education course or program, but they can help you find the answer to the question—is Distance Learning right for you?
- DL Glossary: This glossary provides definitions for terms used in ACC's Distance Learning program, and covers basic technical terminology. The page also offers information about books and links to online resources that may be helpful to new DL students.
- Learning Style Assessment: Complete this self-assessment survey for a better understanding of how you learn best and how compatible that style is with distance education.
- Passport to Success Workshop: This online workshop explores the basics of Distance Learning at ACC, provides study tips and strategies, and gives you direct access to student support resources available to all ACC students as well as those available especially for DL students with their unique needs and expectations.
- Technical Skills Checklist: This interactive checklist will help you see if your technical skills and experience meet the needs of distance education courses at ACC. The assessment tool will show you skills areas where you may need some help, others where you're ready to go, or some where a quick review will get you up to speed.
