Create Question Manage and Assign Assessments
Create Assessment Grade Assessments

Wimba's Oral Assessments enable ACC instructors to record a variety audio based questions to test a student's listening and comprehension skills. After you have reviewed the screen capture tutorials in step 1, follow steps 2 through 7. You may choose to print out this page for your on-going reference.

1. Log in to Wimba. To create Oral Assessments, you first create the quesitons, then create the assessments and then assign the assessments to a class or group of students.

2. Select the Oral Assessments Tab at the top of the screen.


Create a Question

1. Select Create Question.

2. Select the Question type. There are several oral question types you can create from Wimba's Create Question screen:

The Voice Dialog screen allows you to enter the file name, add an image and a description. The recording icon in the lower right portion of the screen allows you to record a message.

Multiple Choice Quiz questions allow you to Record audio instructions, questions or instructions which the student has to respond to, to upload a previously recorded messages, to write quiz questions in the text dialog box, and to write up to five text answer responses.

The Fill in the Blank question creation screen enables you to Record a Message for the student. Based on the audio instructions, students must fill in the blank or connect the first part of the question with the second part.

Wimba's Pairing screen has a Record icon for recording audio messages, and a text box for writing instructions for the question.

There is a table with five rows and two columns. The left column is labeled Question. Text questions can be written by the instructor. On the right column is labeled Answer.

The Vocal Multiple Choice Questions enable the instructor to create a multiple choice question where both the question and each of the answers are recorded audio elements. The instructor records the question and instructions and each of the answers (including distractor responses). The instructor can record up to five audio selections.

The Vocal Pairing screen is similiar to the Pairing question type except with Vocal Pairing, the instructor can record both the first part and second part of the question and the student is required to match the two correct parts together. Images can also be added to the question.

3. Record the audio for the question.

4. Save the question when you are finished recording.


Create an Assessment

After you have created a bank of test questions, you are ready to Create an Assessment.

1. Select Create an Assessment from the OAB main options screen

2. Type a Name and Title for the assessment. At the bottom of the screen are two windows. The window on the left contains a list of the Available Questions. The window on the right contains the Questions in the Assessment.

3. Highlight the questions you want in the assessment.

4. Click the ADD button and the questions will be added to your assessment.

5. Save the Assessment


Manage and Assign an Assessment

1. Select Manage Your Assessments and Assign Assessments from the Main Oral Assessment options page.

2. From Wimba's Manage Your Assessments screen, you can see all of the assessments you've created, the total number of assessment questions for each assessment. You can also verify whether your assessments have been assigned, assign an assessments, edit the assessments, and copy or delete the assessments.

3. Select Wimba's Assigned Assessment option.

4. Select the assessment you wish to assign and the group you wish to assign it to.

Note: You can see the Members of the groups you have assigned assessments to as well as see all the assessments which have historically been assigned to that group.


Grade Assessments

1. Once an assessment is assigned, it will be listed on each student's My Wimba Main page under Assessments to Take. Students must select the assessment, answer the questions and submit the assessments.

2. After your student has submitted an assessment, it will show up under the Instructor's My Wimba tab of the Wimba Manager (first page after Log In) under the Assessments to Grade section. Select the assessment to grade.

Note: You can also get a list of the Assessments to Grade by clicking on the Assessments to Grade link on the Oral Assessment Builder's main menu.
