This section contains information about Wimba technical and administrative support. It is separated into support information for both faculty and students, faculty support information and student support information.
Faculty and Student Support
Faculty and Student support provides general Wimba support information for both faculty and students.
Wimba is platform independent and does not need any special software or plug-ins to operate. It does require Sun Java to be installed on your computer. (Sun Java is standard on the majority of systems). If an audio player applet does not display on your system, chances are good that it is because you don't have Sun Java on your system.
Getting Started section provides information on how to test your system to verify that the audio player is displayed and to ensure the Wimba audio applet will work correctly on your system.
If your audio player doesn't display on your system, you need to download the latest version of Sun Java.
If you attempt to play one of the on-line Flash based audio tutorials and it doesn't play, download the latest version of the Flash player onto your system.
Verify the technical requirements needed to run Wimba on your system.

Faculty Support
There are two ways to create Wimba audio resources. One way to create audio resources is within Blackboard. Another way is to log into Wimba.
Wimba's four Voice Communication Tools (Voice Announcements, Voice Email, Voice Board and Voice Direct) can be created and stored within one of three Blackboard content areas:
- Syllabus
- Course Documents
- Assignments
These content areas are accessible from Blackboard's control panel. Select the course Content Area you want to add the audio resource to.
In addition to the three course content areas listed above, general Voice Announcements can be created and stored within Blackboard's main announcements page by selecting the Voice Announcements option from the Course Tools section of the Control Panel.
Select the Voice Communication Tool you want to create from the Learning Unit Pull down menu (upper right of the Content Area screen).
Be sure to let the students know which of the three course content areas they need to access. A link which launches the audio resource will be available just below the name of the audio resource.
