FACULTY TRAINING
Face to face training gives ACC instructors hands-on experience developing Wimba audio resources. The face to face training is either delivered as a workshop or one on one.
- Workshop training is delivered in a computer lab. Headset microphones are provided which enable faculty to develop their own audio recordings. View a list of available ACC Wimba Workshops.
- One on one Wimba training is delivered either at the faculty member's office or at PIN 1004. Headset microphones are also available for one on one training sessions. ACC faculty members and staff who need assistance creating Wimba audio resources and who need to implement Wimba quickly can schedule one on one training at any time. Schedule a one on one training session.
In addition to face to face training options, several Wimba training options are also available on-line. With on-line training, the faculty member receives training at his or her desktop computer. The faculty member must supply his or her own microphone.
- Wimba Teleconference training session is designed and delivered by Wimba. ACC faculty members can take this training in their offices or at their homes. This training combines a teleconference session with an on-line, screen capture Wimba software demonstration. It covers how to use Voice Communication Tools, the Oral Assessment Builder and Administrative functions (i.e. adding users and groups). These training sessions are scheduled on an as needed basis. To schedule a Wimba teleconference, contact Scott Josephson at Wimba at (212)651-8060 or (212)533-1775 Ext 4132. You can also submit a Wimba Training Request Form. Be sure to indicate the type of training you would like.
- There are several Wimba On-line Blackboard workshops. Each workshop is designed to assist ACC faculty members in creating various Wimba audio resources for their courses. In order to take a Blackboard workshop, you must have a Blackboard account. To get a Blackboard account, go to http://acconline.austincc.edu/. If you already have a Blackboard account and would like to register for the Blackboard course, submit a training request form and you'll be registered into the Blackboard course and a Wimba account will be set up for you.
